Integrating Guide with CoderPad

Enable automatic CoderPad link creation in your scheduling workflows

This article will walk you through how to integrate Guide with CoderPad to easily send live "pads" to candidates when scheduling interviews.

The integration streamlines your hiring process by embedding coding evaluations into the scheduling workflow, ensuring candidates receive the right assessment links without extra steps.

How CoderPad pads work with Guide

Once the integration is connected, here's what happens behind the scenes when you schedule interviews:

  • A pad is created automatically when an interview with Collaborative coding set to CoderPad is booked.

  • Rescheduling an interview reuses the same pad, so a new one isn't generated.

  • Guide won't create a duplicate pad for the same interview.

  • Removing collaborative coding from an interview clears the pad link in Guide, but it does not delete the pad in CoderPad.

  • You can control which interviews generate a pad by enabling collaborative coding only on the specific interview stages that need it in your interview plan.

Understanding pad usage and your plan limits

If your CoderPad plan includes a limited number of interview pads, here's how Guide's automatic pad creation affects your usage:

  • Creating a pad does not count toward your CoderPad monthly allowance. A pad only counts once it reaches "Started" status in CoderPad.

  • This means pads that Guide generates but that are never used (for example, if an interview is cancelled or the pad is simply never opened) will not impact your usage or count against your plan.

  • Cancelled interviews don't automatically remove pads in CoderPad. Those unused pads won't count toward your allowance, but you may still want to clean them up in CoderPad periodically to keep your account tidy. 🧹

šŸ’” Pad usage and plan limits are managed on the CoderPad side. If you have questions about how your specific plan counts pads, CoderPad's support team can confirm the details for your account.
