This article will walk you through how to integrate Guide with HackerRank to easily create and send HackerRank links to candidates when scheduling interviews.
The integration streamlines your hiring process by embedding coding evaluations into the scheduling workflow, ensuring candidates receive the right assessment links without extra steps.
Retrieving the API Key from HackerRank:
Here is a brief article from HackerRank on how you can access and generate API keys:
If cannot find your API settings, double-check your permissions in HackerRank to ensure your account has access.
Entering API Key into Guide:
Log into your Guide Dashboard and go to the integrations page.
Look for the HackerRank integration option and paste the API key where prompted and click "Connect".
Using the Integration: The Scheduling Workflow
Once the integration is connected, HackerRank links are created automatically as part of your normal scheduling flow. Here's what to expect.
1. Turn on collaborative coding for the interview within your scheduling plan or interview requirements
Open the interview requirement you want to add a coding assessment to (your interviewers stay synced from Greenhouse or Ashby).
Under Settings, check Collaborative coding required.
Select HackerRank from the provider dropdown, then click Save.
2. Guide auto-generates the HackerRank link
When that interview is scheduled, Guide automatically creates a unique HackerRank link for the session. There's no manual setup, and nothing to copy or paste.
3. Candidates receive the link automatically
The HackerRank link is added to the candidate's interview schedule and candidate portal, marked with the HackerRank icon.
It's also included in the candidate-facing calendar event, right alongside the video conferencing link, so candidates have everything they need in one place.

4. Interviewers get the same link
The HackerRank link appears in the interviewer-facing calendar event and interview details, giving your team one-click access to the coding environment when the interview begins.

That's it! The link is generated once and kept in sync across the candidate and interviewer views, so everyone joins the same session. đ¤
