Guide: Slack Integration

How to enable the Slack Integration to power candidate facing chat and automatically sync interviewer photos.

The Guide Slack integration syncs Interviewer photos and their job titles to Guide from your Slack Instance. Additionally, you can optionally receive messages from candidates who communicate via the in-Guide chat to a Slack channel.

โš ๏ธ The Guide Slack Integration is not yet published in the Slack App Directory (that work is in progress.) Based on how your Slack Admins have setup the app approval workflow for your Slack instance can change who within your organization needs to approve this integration. Please reach out with any questions to support@guide.co.

Setup:


Guide Admins can head over to https://app.guide.co/settings/integrations to setup the Slack Integration.

  • Click on "Connect" under the integration block

  • A pop up window will appear, select "Add to Slack"

  • Our integration will ask for the following permissions from your Slack workspace: "View people in your Workspace, View Email Addresses of People in your Workspace."

  • On the screen seen below, you will need to optionally nominate a channel for Candidate Chat Alerts to post to, this can be a public or private channel of your choice.

โ€‹๐Ÿค” How to customize this integration:

You will always have control over the two options within the Slack Integration, click on "update" inside the integrations page to change the following.

  1. Autopopulate New Interviewers: This will automatically sync interviewer photos and names from Slack to Resource Guide, making it much easier to send a Guide without asking for the interview team to send along pictures or update their info. As new users join your Slack instance, their names and photos will also populate for use in future Guides.

  2. Receive Notifications on Slack: This will send Guide Candidate Chat messages (pic below) directly to a Slack Channel of your choosing so the team can respond quickly. If you choose to not use this part of the integration, no problem, candidate chat messages will still be sent directly to the sender of the Guide as an email.
