Organization Settings: Blocked Dates

Use blocked dates to define company-wide holidays or blackout periods where no interviews should be scheduled.

📆 What Are Blocked Dates?

Blocked dates in Guide let admins set specific days when no interviewers should be considered available for scheduling—such as company holidays, offsites, or team shutdowns.

Once configured, Guide will automatically:

  • Exclude those days from any suggested interview times

  • Warn recruiters if they attempt to schedule over them manually

  • Display the blocked date name (e.g. “Company Holiday”) in the calendar view to provide context for the scheduling block

🔧 How to Set a Blocked Date

  1. Go to SettingsScheduling Defaults

  2. Scroll down to the Blocked Dates section

  3. Click Add blocked dates

  4. Select a start and end date for the blocked period

  5. Enter a label (e.g. “Thanksgiving Holiday” or “Hack Week”)

  6. Click the ✅ icon to save

All blocked dates will appear in a list and can be deleted anytime using the 🗑️ icon.

🚫 What Happens When a Date Is Blocked?

  • Guide will not suggest interview times that conflict with blocked dates

  • Interviewers will be treated as unavailable on those days

  • The name of the blocked date will show up in calendar views and task details to help teams understand why a date is unavailable

✋ Can You Still Schedule Over a Blocked Date?

Yes—manually scheduled interviews can override blocked dates.

When doing so, Guide will:

  • Warn the scheduler that the selected time overlaps with a blocked date

  • Allow them to continue scheduling if they confirm the override

This helps preserve flexibility while enforcing defaults by design.

🧑‍💻 Can Blocked Dates Be Set Per Interviewer?

Not currently. Blocked dates are organization-wide — if you’re looking to pause a specific interviewer, we recommend adjusting their daily interview limit to 0 during the dates they are unavailable.
