🌍 How Guide Captures Interviewer Location

When your team connects Slack to Guide, each interviewer’s timezone and location are automatically pulled from their Slack profile at the time of initial sync. This makes it easy for recruiting coordinators to know where interviewers are based and whether a physical room is needed.

✏️ How to Manually Update Location and Time Zone

After Slack is connected, you can edit an interviewer’s scheduling preferences anytime:

Option 1: From the User Settings page

  • Go to Settings → Users

  • Click the name of the interviewer

  • Select Edit scheduling preferences

  • Update the location and time zone

Option 2: From the Calendar Review screen

  • Open the calendar review screen

  • Click the interviewer’s name in the panel

  • Select Edit scheduling preferences

  • Update the details as needed

🔄 How Slack Sync Works for User Profiles in Guide

When Slack is initially connected, Guide automatically syncs an interviewer’s location and time zone based on their Slack profile.

✅ If no manual edits are made, any future changes to the interviewer’s Slack profile will continue syncing to Guide automatically — typically within a few minutes.

⚠️ However, once an interviewer’s profile is manually edited in Guide (e.g. location, title, or bio), Slack syncing will stop for that user. From that point on, any further updates must be made directly in Guide via the user’s profile.

This ensures that manual changes aren’t accidentally overwritten by Slack.
